The Judiciary of the Republic of South Africa, under the leadership of Chief Justice Mandisa Maya, will host the 2025 Summit of Chief Justices and Presidents of Constitutional and Supreme Courts of G20 Countries (J20 Summit) from 2 to 5 September 2025, in Sandton, Johannesburg, with the theme ‘Justice in a time of change: Independence, Innovation and Co-operation’.
The J20 was established in 2018 as a resolution of the 2017 G20 meeting held in Hamburg, Germany. The first meeting of the J20 was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2018 and the agenda included discussions on rights and justice; sustainable development; strengthening the rule of law; judicial reform; global democracy and global markets; justice and gender; as well as the role of justice against drug trafficking.
The 2025 J20 Summit will take a page from previous J20 Summits and aims to discuss a number of globally pertinent topics, presented by various speakers from G20 member countries.
